It wasn’t until about mile 14 of my long run yesterday that I started calculating where my mileage was for the week. I realized my prescribed 16 miles would put me within .25 of hitting 60 miles! I really hadn’t even been paying attention. I overshot it to play it safe and finished with 60.5, making it my highest mileage week ever! The week of Christmas I ran 60.25.
What I find interesting is that I thought I was able to hit 60 the week of Christmas because I had extra time being off work for the holiday and such. While I didn’t work a full week last week, I was still pretty busy and managed to get the mileage in. Blew that theory out of the water! I’ve been following a fellow mother, runner, blogger who works full-time, has three young children, and is running about 80 miles a week. (Um, she is also an elite marathoner who just started running a few years ago!) Why on earth do I feel so challenged shooting for 60 when there are others out there making it happen and are probably way busier that I am?
“It’s not about how bad you want it… it’s about how hard you’re willing to work for it.”
I’ve got another full week this week but I’m determined to hit at least 60 again. I’m willing to work for it!!!
