In years past, right around the end of May, I make the big switch. After several months of running in the afternoon, I get to welcome the return of early morning runs. My main reason is to avoid the heat later in the day but I love having my miles in before the responsibilities of the day take hold. The only caveat is that because my kids are still in school, my window is pretty small. As long as I’m out the door by 5:05 AM, I can easily get in four miles before I need to tackle my morning tasks.

In another couple of weeks, once the school year ends, I’ll have a little more time to add a few more miles to my early runs. That is until daylight begins to shift in late summer and I switch back again. For now, I’m going to soak it up!

Oh, and would you look at that! I hit 1000 miles for the year so far! Woo hoo!!

    • Thanks!! What’s funny is that I find I run a bit slower in the early morning because I don’t fuel (food or coffee) beforehand but I’m still happy to have it done nonetheless!
